Well, it won't be long until you are completely hooked. This forum and the bird identification forum are sure to teach you a lot and let you have fun.
I have a Pentax DSLR. Most of the close pictures I got were because I actually set myself up outside. Oddly enough, they are used to me being somewhat present.
I've put a garden chair in my main bird feeding area so they can get used to me. Maybe ONE DAY I can hope to shoot like you do.
Oh that's nice of you to say, but there are some far better photographers in the Bird Watching forum.
