This is an arachnid in the family Solpugidae (sometimes spelled Solfugidae); commonly called sun spiders, camel spiders, wind spiders, etc. - see http://tinyurl.com/l2rs3l for an example. They are active hunters of other arthropods, overpowering their prey by sheer physical force, as they apparently lack venom. Large ones could give you a painful nip if you handled them carelessly, but they otherwise are harmless.
