This one was eyeing his lunch.
Frogs and toads, the wee ones
BeaHive,
Do I see another face in the upper right? Could be!

Those are bubbles - probably a gas by-product from the algae metabolism. Someone else can maybe be more accurate about that. I think algae is cool. To me it means a healthy ecosystem in your water habitat.
But I doubt they are tadpoles, frog eggs or any other fauna. Flora for sure.

Thanks Helen. I thought it looked different than the last eggs I had which were dark in color. Darn. I was hoping for more frogs. Summer is still young..maybe soon!
All the frog eggs I have ever seen are black/dark in the transparent jelly material. I only think of eggs as around early in the spring.
I too wish I had more frogs!

So cute, Well some of my tadpoles made it to frogs. Haven't quite seen them but there is a lot of small things hopping into the water from the lily pads as soon as I approach the pond.
LOL.. oh my I have got to show this thread to my DH... who a couple of weeks ago while I wasn't feeling very well, he didn't keep up with the chlorine (sp?)in our swimming pool, when I went out to check on it, we had hundreds and I mean I bet there was a thousand tadpoles swimming in our 32,000 gallon pool.. lol.. No way could I kill them so we have been waiting until they have formed and jumped out, before I add the pool shock to the pool.. So basically for this past month (in the heat of summer) no swimming for the kids or DH in the pool.. No way could I kill all those babies.. We have to many skeeters now.. I need someone on my side.. lol...
Have really enjoyed all the pictures..
Oh my gosh, Kerry Kriger will be thrilled to hear this! Good for you!
(Good for the tadpoles, LOL)
:-)
HUGE wave and Hello to Wuvie... :-) My T2T mentor... :-) Umm who is Kerry Kriger?
Hi DR,

Finally, Got a pic of my little ones, these came from tadpoles. The big frogs moved on this spring after a couple of years in my small pond but they left their offspring to keep me company. Their pretty shy and don't sit still when they see movement. Lately they seem to have gotten a bit more use to my comming and going.
Holly & Pony...very cute babies!
burn, sorry you were not able to get a few tadpoles for the GK's. I am sure they are thrilled with the leech? Yuck! But kids like those slimy things I suppose. These tadpoles that my daughters brought me are huge...very big heads. I hope they are not getting teased by the other pond residents!! LOL!
Congratualtions Wuvie. He will be hopping around in no time. Looking forward to my taddies finishing the conversion also.
Yay little legs! It's so fascinating watching them transform slowly into itty bitty frogs. I'm so glad I built my little frog pond- I think it's the best garden decision I ever made. :)
Wow, Bea- those guys look enormous! Are they bullfrogs, ya think? I'm afraid to get any of those because they eat smaller frogs. Eep! 0.o
I think they are bull frogs. They are most common araound here.
*nod* it's getting that way all over the northwest. They're so invasive they're knocking out all the native species. I hope none find my yard! I don't think there are any frogs at all in my neighborhood, none of my neighbors have ever seen any, so hopefully my little guys will be safe from them.
I had a lot of little tree frogs in the yard when I first moved here in 2006. I have not seen one for two years. Could be the bull frogs or the chemicals the neighbors seem to be spraying all the time to kill weeds etc. It is a shame.
He is so sweet!
Really enjoying the pics they are all so cute.
