Good morning. Last night I found that the crabapple tree that has been part of my property for many years was destroyed during a storm. I gleaned about 5 gallons of fruit. Is it possible to grow the seeds from these? I think some are ripe. How do I do this?
I know that the fruit may not be the same, it's more of a sentimental issue. I'll replace the tree with another crabapple for fruit, but would still like to keep this one going.
Thanks for the help

Crabapple from seed?
Ugh, sorry to hear of your loss.
It's not just the fruit, I'm afraid - it really depends on whether it was a hybrid or grafted, etc.. If I were you, I'd search for some limb tips that haven't wilted too bad and try to get some cuttings off of it - stick a few of them in some gallon pots in moist soil in a shady spot and give it a go.
Maybe someone with more crabapple experience will chime in.
Yeah, I figured that. Unfortunately, by the time I got to it, it was too far gone. I did save some tips, but have little hope for them.
Thanks!
Don't give up on them, you might be surprised.
Best of luck!
