(Zone 1)

Nope Gail ... ^_^ I think y'all are coming from here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/992507/#new

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

how did you do that, Lin? I just copied and pasted what was in the url.........

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

It looks like maybe you were in the middle of editing one of your posts when you copied the link, Gail.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

You are right..........I put it in the edit part of a post.......thanks.

I am not telling you what I just planted up of 8 babies...........prized leaves that I will save for you in the Round Robin........the mother leaves are perfect except that I had cut the tops off........but that doesn't make a bit of difference.

I start getting excited about what I can find to send...........and I love receiving from viostrep.......does that lady ever have gessies!!!

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Oh, you're teasing! That's not nice!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

But it is so much fun!!!!!!

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

:-P

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Here are some really cool domes and trays that are less expensive than Park Seed.......
Look at the 8x12 with the tall dome that has vents in it.............
I can always find something at home to propagate in like a plastic shoebox and put the solos in there with saran on the top.........
http://www.indoorgardensupplies.com/

I am sooooooo 'not cool' I don't even know what :-P means ^_^

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

I am sticking my tongue out at you. Hmph!

(didn't your mother tell you it wasn't nice to tease?) . . . but I do have something to show you tomorrow!!)

(Lynn) Omaha, NE(Zone 5a)

Gail,
I love that site.It is one I have bookmarked.Cape Cod still beats their prices on some things though.

MSU, MS(Zone 8a)

I can't wait until the next RR either. I picked up a few really nice starters at my new AV club and I hope to have some unusual stuff by then. Is it fall yet? LOL!

Pat

Maple Heights, OH

Hi All,
I've been lurking, this does look like fun. I was sad because I couldn't participate in this one, but I should have a lot of starter plants for the fall RR.

Dry ice and the USPS is a definite no no, you are not allowed to mail it any more. I also think it would also freeze anything in the box.

John

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

We probably won't wait until fall as we get very excited about these Round Robins..........join us!!!! Check with us...........and see what everyone decides.

Thanks for the tip on dry ice..........

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

I think it would be wise to wait for fall. I would hate to receive a box of mush

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Whatever people want to do is fine with me. I trade all summer long with individuals and we have no problems with getting mush. I just received two boxes this week that were perfectly wonderful and my temps are above 100 degrees everyday. It is just a matter of the plants not sitting outside. That is why I have a post office box..........just for plants......

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Tah Dah!! Sorry I am so late in posting my box I received today (had family business first).
My goodness, Connie, you outdid yourself with AV leaves.............I know that you intended for me to keep one leaf and pass the other one on to Nichole, but they won't last that long.

Nichole, you know that I will share any and all babies as I have before with you................there are some really good ones in here.

Here is what had turned to mush:
Sweet Amy Sue trailer
Optimara Rita Stardust
Laughing Anna
Some kind of sinningia in a big syrofoam cup

First you need to see the box having traveled the USA.........too funny and cute!!

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

It does look a bit beat up, doesn't it? Is that the original box? I can't see the pictures I had drawn on it, but this may be just the wrong angle . . .

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I will replace the box as I have plenty of boxes from USPS.
Before I mail to you tomorrow, Nichole.............please tell me if you want to take a chance on me dividing the av leaves from Connie. For some reason the zip lock bags are completely all humidity and water which is fine if I stick them today, but I doubt that they will make another trip to you.
Here are the ones I am keeping:
Vespa Verde
Everfloris Ever Promise
Tatianna Den (Russian)
Chirita Nimbus
Fantasy Wasp by D. Senk
Chimera Summer Song
Ma's Corsage
Debon's Misty morn
Heartland's Heirloom Lace
Pink Summit
Pink Mint
Cirelda plantlet
Optimara Little Diamonds
Mazin Blue by D. Senk
Optimara Scarlet
Ramblin Dots
and some 10-54-10 Schultz Bloom Plus
You tell me what to do, Nichole about trying to send them on to you..........I have plenty to send you and fill the box, but I want you to tell me it is okay to keep both leaves..........or, in some cases, several small leaves..................

I am very excited both about receiving and sending on to Nichole!!!!!

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

That sounds like quite a haul, Gail!

You're the best one to judge, Gail, on forwarding any of the leaves. Something like that has been a judgement call for each person on the route. If you want to set the leaves in a cup of water overnight and see if they perk up, that's up to you.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

They are not dehydrated as Connie carefully put wet paper towels around the petioles of each leaf...........but they are very wet with the heat in our part of the country............but they are starting to get very soft. Why don't I go through right now and take out one leaf (some have only one leaf but the majority have more leaves) and stick it for me...........I will leave the zip lock open tonight on the ones I will be forwarding to you........it is a nice haul, for sure!!!

I will go ahead and send you the other leaf in those that have more than one leaf...........why not try? And then, I can add some things for you in case they don't make it. You should get the box on Wednesday if I mail in the morning.............being just 2 hours away.........

Oh, it sounds like you guys have had so much fun with this round robin! I'm sorry I missed it, but have had a lot of fun watching it travel and seeing what everyone gets. I'll definitely be in on the next one! I'm trying to propagate as much as I can! ^_^

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

It is our close distance from each other that I would even consider letting you mail the box and not keep everything for yourself. . . the temps for each day this week will be over 100 degrees, according to the news this morning. Once the box is here, they will hold it in the apartment office, which is air conditioned.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

And...........I have a PO Box so they won't be in the heat at all...............let's try...............and I will add some sussies...............we need to give Connie a big hug on the internet for sending so many wonderful av leaves!!!!!!

*****edited to say that I will crisp them up by putting in fridge for awhile.............

Hi Everybody :)

I am glad the box got there ok , I was going to replace it but I thought maybe everybody would like to see what it looked like after it's travels , looks kind of pooped out and needs a vacation :)

I think the extra humidity was because of me , I recut and soaked all of them as so many were so limp I knew they wouldn't make it and I think I just didn't dry them off enough before I repacked them so I am sorry if any died because of me but the crisping up really made a difference at the time I just should have dried them more , will do better next time . I will add more too next time , it was lots of fun and it will be fun to have more people involved next time and maybe it will be cooler too :)

I want to thank all of you for sending such nice plant material and being willing to share what you have with others who would like to see what you find beautiful and gratifying to grow , the plants that lift your spirits and make you smile , it so nice to share that kind of joy :) so thank you all and please all who want to should join in for the next one :) I am already excited about it and planning what to send :)

Nicole if I can do anything to help with the next RR please just ask and thank you for doing so much to make the rest of us smile :)

Hugs
Connie

Williston, ND

I missed all the fun .with luck I can join in the fall .should we do that in the fall

Monticello, MN

you betcha Jim , I am getting ready as we speak , I wanted to tell you too that now many of the leaves you so kindly sent me are getting heirs :) so the families are growing , literally :) Thank you JIm and please do join in in the next RR , Nicole was a genius in mapping it all out and it was so much fun .

Connie :)

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Connie.........you have to remember that your leaves are still great............I have already planted mine and I took them out of the zip locks just to let the humidity out .............already have them back in the zip locks and they are looking good...............our heat is a heat all its' own.........you did a super duper job of sending them................

I can't wait until fall...........

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

This picture was taken earlier today before I had planted my leaves...............see...........they look awesome just after being in the air for a little while........

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

another shot.........from the other side..........you sent so much!!!!

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Maybe on the next box, we can each put a sticker on it (bumper stickers are nice, but a bit big!) showing where it's been? Just a thought . . .

So many leaves! I can't wait! ^_^

Monticello, MN

Gail remember I didn't put all those in , many of them were in the box when I got it , I just crisped them up so they wouldn't turn to much on the way to you , I did put many in but not all , I don't want to claim the gifts of others , they all do look good , so glad they will go on to make beautiful blooms to make you smile , I hope many more people will join in on the next one , it was fun , Nicole stickers of some sort from each of us would be fun , will have to think about what I will put on the box , maybe something about the state fair or my favorite place to go and scream in the Summer ................................VALLEY FAIR!!!!!!!!! ....................WOHOO .........Love the rollercoasters :)

Connie

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Just to let you know, Nichole...........and everyone who put in all those magnificent av leaves, chirita leaves, sinningias (micro minis, etc).........I just opened them again and blew air , closed them back up again....................will be there shortly!!

Andalusia, AL(Zone 8b)

awww another roller coaster rider!! I love them too ^_^ Someday I'm going to go to Six Flags in Georgia, just for the roller coaster ride.LOL.

Nice things you picked out of the box Gail!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Wow, Jan..............did I ever get some goodies. Next time I want to leave the bucket out as it hampered my old way of packing (LOL)............Nichole's box went in the mail today and she might get it tomorrow................

You would have to hog tie me to get me on any ride, let alone the roller coaster...........
