Clock is ticking!

Not the biological one. I have my two. Happy as a clam. Told there wasn't even suppposed to be one. "Man plans, G-d laughs". Talking about my plants. We sold our house last night. Need to find a house and settle by end of July. Kinda, sorta been packing up plants all spring. Now the crunch is on. I know the lillies are going. Most of them anyway. I've been having a miserable time with botryis, so I'm thinking of holding on til the last minute and digging them, then cutting them way back, washing off every speck of soil, putting them in a cooler and transporting them that way instead of with soil. Most of them will have finished blooming by then, so I think it might work. I'll have both my fridges, so I can hold them in that till I can get them back in pots or the ground Hostas are going to stay. I think they picked up that nasty v irus. I'm not sure, so better safe than sorry. My expensive perenials are going on the truck, cheap easy to find are staying. Veggi garden, I planted it in pots, so they're going on the truck. L-d I'm going to loose my mind! One to get into school in Toronto by middle of August and the other in Detroit by Sept 1 and move and sell one more house on top of it and by another one! Thank G-d I have a bottle of valium left from the dentist!!!!!

Anyway, back to the plants, I know they probably won't bloom as well next year, but do you think this will work. I'm just looking at keeping them alive at this point.

Thanks for your advise

Moby,

I don't have any doubt you would!!! I'll be fine, its just maddening. Do you think the lillies will make it if I do it this way?

Oh my dear, I do know how maddening it is ~ but at least when I moved my whole garden it wasn't in the middle of the growing season.

If your lilies have died back due to botrytis then it certainly won't hurt any more to cut the stems. I'd put the lily bulbs in baggies with a little ever-so-slightly-damp peat. That way you can write the name right on the bags. The other healthy lilies might be a bit less vigorous than if they'd had the whole season, but next year should probably be fine.
