Convolvulus cneorum (ex Corfu Town, Greece)

Birmingham, United Kingdom

Ladies and Gents,

Here is a wild form, flowers are slightly smaller than the cultivated form but still nice. Found it near the front harbour growing through boulders etc..

It has survived 2 winters covered with fleece, lovely silver leaves and it has formed a slow spreading mound.

I wish I could have got more photos but it seems to detect when rain is coming and the corolla's shut.

I have tried to recreate the conditions it would like in the wild as best as possible, if it was sunny there would have been lots more blooms.

A charming and easy species for the hot rockery..

Enjoy

Final photo, notice pubescence on stems, protects it from the harsh sun in the med

I impulse purchased a plant of this species. See leaf photo below. I like its silver green leaf colour very much. Can't wait to see the flowers!

Just be careful not too give it too much fertiliser and keep it starved and dry it will bloom in a profuse manner; I have seen it in various places like Greece, Spain etc being baked..
