Joyce Cobb burgundy

Aschaffenburg, Germany

I am really happy this strain seems to come true in its colour this year again. This is the only ipomoea I have seen in burgundy so far. Purpureas don't seem to be able to take much heat, at least this one doesn't. It was there from around 6 a.m. to 8.30 before the sun hit it...

Here the colour is contrasted against the pink, lavender and salmon of the impatiens in the foreground...

Martin - Oh MY!!! What a fabulous color on your Joyce Cobb! I really love that deep burgandy bloom! Any seed pods forming? I would love a few seeds if you should happen to get enough from your vine.

My Joyce Cobb were blue: http://davesgarden.com/community/blogs/t/beckygardener/7247/

And from Dany's photo ... I guess they come in many colors? It sure looks like it!

Lovely colour Martin... nice one, it's just like the one in Dany's pic :-) i like the coloured throat...

I'll remember you for seeds, Becky.

Thank you VERY much, Martin! :-) I am sure we will work out a fun trade again this year! :-)

By the way, Becky,

I got these seeds from you. Are they president bush or the cross president bush x rebenda...they produce plenty of seeds I get the impression. I wasn't too thrilled in the beginning, but the blooms seem to get bigger...also the colour is nice...I still can't completely make it out...it seems a very tender purple...

Your lavender blooming variegated vine looks like this one: http://davesgarden.com/community/blogs/t/beckygardener/9408/
I loved it because of the large delicate soft lavender blooms and that gorgeous variegated foliage. I hope gives you a nice show of blooms this year! :-)

The original vine came from seeds that Antoinette shared with me. She hand crossed them and that is what I got when I grew one of the seeds out last season! Yours are the second generation of that cross. I guess we need to come up with a distinct name for that beauty! Any ideas?

What about: Touch of Lavender or Lavender Cloud...I actually like Touch of Lavender better...

Martin - Oooh! A name as lovely as this vine! I like "Touch of Lavender". Very nice! Sounds like the perfect name for this gorgeous vine! :-)
