are bad? i have several i soaked and and like blackish gel stuff come out a few of them. some just split down the middle. planted them all any way but most of the time use the ziploc baggy method and have a good rate with them. so how do you tell if a seed is bad?

gosh, I don't use the soak, nick or baggie method.. I just plant them and mark the count to see how many pop up of what I plant.. sorry..

Marie - That definitely does NOT sound good. Sounds like they were bad or became rotted when you did the soak method.

I, too, just plant my seeds. I've yet to try the soak or baggie method with any of my plant seeds.
