Back from leave

A week's absense from DG seemed like a month. Nice to be back. But during my absence, I happened to watch on TV, almost live, that dreadful attack on the WTC. I was visiting an old friend over dinner at Chennai (old name was Madras) on the east coast. We all were too stunned to talk to each other and we were simply gaping at the TV and the dinner was perfunctory. He tried to contact his friend there (it was his birthday, it seems) in the US but all lines were busy as announced. The time had come for me to leave and I left without speaking to my friend the normal way. His DW had tears. Just that day in school, his young son had drawn the scene of the WTC landscape and got a "good" rating from his teacher. At night (local time) that was flat!! Unbelievable. He showed it to me after looking at the live coverage. I told him that it would become history and asked him to remember that well. I had seen many years ago, a movie called "towering inferno". But this was real, for bad. :(

Dinu, We have a lot of Indian nationals here where I work (a software devlopment company)..you're from India, correct? What's the mood over there? Do you get the feeling that most of India supports any action the U.S. may take...or what are they thinking?

P.S. ...Take care of the bengal tigers for me :) What beautiful creatures!

Namastey, Baa. That's in Hindi language. In our mother tongue Kannada, it is Namaskaara. Folded hands (palms touching each other) in front of the chest, head bent a little. That's the way.

I'm moved by the concern shown. No wonder this is like another close-knit family. I feel fortunate to be amongst such lovely people.

I returned safe, but with a sprained back muscle. I sustained it in the final match while playing. Now I'm almost fine. I treated myself with Homeopathic remedies, as I always do and it has healed up the soreness pretty quickly, as it always does!

I think the Indians are just watching the developments there in the US. India will be affected in a sense w.r.t. economy. My colleague's son who works at the WTC went late to work that fateful day because his alarm clock didn't go up and he was saved. But he was shocked when he saw the thing on fire.
