He/She is our our Front porch... I have small children, should I be concerned. I believe in live and let live. ;-)

This is Nephila clavipes, a golden silk spider (family Nephilidae; formerly placed in the family Tetragnathidae), probably the largest orb-weaving spider in the continental United States. In spite of its size and appearance, it is harmless to humans. This spider can be highly variable in appearance, see http://tinyurl.com/lar7vz for other examples.
