CLOSED: ID this spider

Topeka, KS

I found this spider in the corner of the garage. I'm guessing the spider she has in her web is a wolf spider but I don't know what kind the one feasting on it is. Size wise the wolf spider is about the size of a quarter, so she is pretty decent size. I'm also curious how she got the big wolf spider in her web? Thanks!!

This spider is in the family Theridiidae (cobweb/comb-footed spiders); the same family as the well-known widow spiders. However, this one, as well as the vast majority of cobweb spiders, is harmless to humans. They construct messy, tangled webs that often extend almost to the floor (or ground, if outdoors), where wandering critters can get entangled. Their webs also are remarkably strong; I have seen photos of critters larger than the one in your image that have been captured by such spiders
(see http://tinyurl.com/kwkw9y for an example). Your spider resembles the common house spider, Parasteatoda tepidariorum - see http://tinyurl.com/l3nxgj for an image.
