My New Lilies this year

Crestview, FL(Zone 8a)

Hi all Lily collectors .. although I cant quite call myself a collector ... I got hooked with lilies after my very first Walmart purchased lily 3 years ago. I didnt expect it to be so easy to grow and how beautiful they are when in bloom. I always thought they are divas and will not tolerate a newbie gardener like me...

when I finally got my confidence enough to know I cant possibly kill lilies due to my ignorance - I have search for an online company to order from ... I found B&D lilies .. i ordered a few bulbs (what my pocketbook will allow) and had them on the ground this spring and wasn't exactly expecting to have a spectacular show from it since it will be its first season in my garden...

but lo and behold - I am so happy that the lilies have given me very beautiful blooms and even far more flowers than what I had expected. They haven't even reached its full grown height of 4'-5' yet but they sure put on a great show..

sorry for the long sentiments :-) just can't contain myself... btw - here are the pictures of my lilies from B &D

Hey Flagardner! Welcome to the lily forum and welcome to the addiction! :) Now that you've found B&D, you need to find Buggycrazy, Faraway Flowers, The Lily Garden, and a host of other things that will open your world to a bunch of new lilies. Have a blast!

I loved Eudoxia last year when it bloomed! My Avacado is huge this year I will have to move it come fall not working right in front of the porch and over 5ft. tall!

I debated whether or not to get Avocado, nanny - now I think I will!

wow :-) thanks all for the warm welcome ... the first picture is a Conca D'or... yup i am addicted ... I have been hiding my online buying from my husband - he thinks i have way too many plants .lol..

of all my flowering plants in the garden, lilies give me so much pride and joy - you know being able to actually grow them... when I was back home (Philippines) i see them only from high end florists and they are so expensive I really thought they must be very had to grow - of course it was imported from somewhere.

i have looked at buggycrazy's website and will definitely order some bulbs for the fall planting - need to hurry up and prepare a bed for the fall...

again thank you for the warm welcome ... thought maybe I could brag some more...

After seeing your photo, Freya is going on my list for this fall. Don't lilies make you feel like you are the most amazing gardener? They are just so perfect and take so little work.

Freya looks like an LA - either way it is wonderful and suits my taste too.

Hi Susan,

my sentiments exactly - I feel like I'm an expert and seasoned gardener growing all these beautiful lilies. I am now more confident and want to venture into getting some rare ones although im sure I cant afford them lol... Definitely will continue to get some more different varieties in the near future , right now it is way too hot to even think about grabbing special sales...

but I am loving my lilies - the Freya and Conca D'or have the biggest flower I have ever seen

Freya is very pretty....so it fades to white as the flowers get older?
