This hopper was only about an inch long. Does anyone know if this a grasshopper and specifically what kind? Thanks!
CLOSED: Some kind of grasshopper?
This appears to be a nymph (or brachypterous adult) of a short-horned grasshopper (Orthoptera: Acrididae) in the subfamily Melanoplinae (spur-throated grasshoppers). See http://tinyurl.com/lammrs for an example in the genus Melanoplus.
Thank you, Suunto.
