for the winter I always plant lots of pansies.

Also cabbages do very well in our winter.
This year I have also planted Dusty Miller, which it is a perennial (takes teh heat and the cold)
I have lot of bulbs in the ground and just today I saw a lilium starting to pop out ...so excited.
