My description of the bird mirrored the description for the Broad-winged Hawk -- appeared white underneath with thick, obvious black lining along the trailing edge and wing tips and with what I described as two thick black bars on the tail. This afternoon, this bird landed right above me. When it flew away, I saw bars on its tail too although I did not get as good a look at it. Is this picture of a Broad-winged or a Red-shouldered? It's definitely not a Cooper's Hawk b/c the tail is too short. |
