Beginner Gardening: lettuce seedlings, how much water do they need?, 1 by rwaterspf1

I planted some red leaf lettuce Saturday morning and it has germinated already in just two days! I put it 6 inches under the lights and checked it with a thermometer, wow almost 90 degrees under there. I have it in a 6 inch pot with maybe 20 seeds altogether (5 have come up so far). Do I just keep the surface moist or do I need to do a deep watering? My last set of seedlings baked at an inch under the lights so we are trying a little farther away this time. BTW this is my first time planting seeds and also using a grow light.
