AlexanderSam wrote: My sister bought me a shrub rose collection from Seeds & More. It contains four different hardy roses. I actually have more than one question but I put the main one in the topic. I had just decided to plant the Father Hugo rose (Rosa Hugonis) where my morning glories used to be. I waited this long because I wanted to confirm that they (the morning glories) were, as I had suspected, dead. I looked at the planting instructions on the packaging and they said to cold stratify the seeds for 90 days prior to planting. Having looked up what cold stratifying is I wanted to ask a couple of questions: Is there any way to shorten the time or will it really take 90 days? If I do the cold stratifying I won't be planting until the beginning of August (in zone 5b), should I just wait until next year or will there be a chance they'll survive? If I wait until next year, will the seeds still be good? The package told me to store them in a cold place like a refrigerator, should I keep them there all year? Thanks for your time and patience, just below is a link to the PlantFiles page for this rose. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/56070/ |
