Well March is certainly coming in like a lion!

It's terrible windy here .. started last night .. we had a quick storm pass over too around 11pm .. it rained hard and heavy with emphasis on heavy for about 10 minutes .. when I got up this morning and walked outside I noticed a small bucket that was empty yesterday had 1.5 inches of water in it!!!!! So glad it moved by fast .. otherwise at that rate the house probably would have floated away. I was planning on planting my gingers (dug em up and divided them on Saturday) but the ground is way too wet and it's way too windy to be working outside. So I made today, House Cleaning & Laundry Day.

What's everyone else doing now that Spring actually looks like it might make it here soon?

Certainly glad you managed to stay busy! ;)
I'm actually not certain how much rain we got last night. The winds weren't as bad as expected and I know there's wasn't any thunder close by or the dogs would have let us know.
And it's going to get in the mid-30's tonight. Gonna be interesting!

Calling for upper 30's here tonight. At least the wind finally stopped! I really don't like wind .. blows too many things over .. like my reed fence.

I had to drive our big car (Toyota Sequoia) to work yesterday because of the high winds that were expected while I would be on my way home.
My car, a '91 Geo Metro, (Buttercup) wouldn't have been good in high winds!
I was glad I went with the BIG car!

Like the name!

I just got finished planting the gingers .. now on to the other zillion things I need to do. It's kinda cool out today but at least the wind is gone.

I think next on my list will be move the roses.

Such weird weather. Has any anyone seen pine pollen yet? Normally we get the pine pollen first then the live oak leaves start falling. This year the oak leaves are already coming down like snow and we haven't seen any yellow stuff. I am afraid it is going to hit us just as the weather moderates and it will be miserable with that sticky yellow pollen blowing around.

Same here, Ardesia. Oak leaves have covered the yard but no pine pollen. The honey bees are all over our purple plums. Is that a good sign Spring is coming soon ? I am not going to feel good about this weather until the first of April. I think I read that our last frost date is April 5th. Right?

I saw pine pollen the other day, not much but it was on top of some standing water after the rain.

My cars were turning yellow today so the pines are up and running. I hope we have a rainy spring just to keep the pollen under control.

Awww .. I was delighted to find that my Trillium I had planted last year not only survived, but multiplied!

Excellent!

Congratulations on your trilliums multiplying, I had no idea they even grew in the Lowcountry. Then I saw these at Spring Island last month. This patch goes on for 14 acres. It seems they like a calcium rich soil and this area where they are growing was an old indian shell midden.

When I got them way last spring from a friends property way out in the boondocks I really had no hopes of them coming back. I was really surprised .. especially when I realized they had multiplied! I'll take a picture tomorrow.
