goofballTex wrote: Well, I drove down to central Texas yesterday to look for some peachbush. No luck. But that's alright, because I got to see more of my state. I grabbed some jars of dirt from the counties I haven't been to before, and a jar of water from the Guadalupe river, and I also got some very neat rocks from the riverbank. There's two with some beautiful swirlig patterns, an adder stone, a big calcite block, and several brownish chalcedony type stones. I saw wildflowers that I don't get to see up here in the DFW area (I hate to say it, but our plants seem a bit plainer than all the other parts of Texas), and a whole bunch of honey mesquite growing beautifully in the wild. I'm just a tiny bit closer now to my goal of going everywhere in Texas than I was a few days ago. Next year I'll scout ahead during March, when the peachbush are blooming. They'll be much easier to spot then, and then I'll try again, knowing exactly where to look. In the meantime, have some pictures! Brandon |
