Good morning everyone:

ok tornadoes last night. I believe 4 were killed in the el reno area which is 4 hours away by car. we did have a lot of favorable conditions for tornaboe's but the worst part was the wind of upto 80 mpg which is hurricane force winds. There was a lot of property damage.

we have had and will have for a few more days a dry line from sw kansas down into southern texas. a dry line is a favorable front for storms to generate from. it allows a person to see the storms coming and get to cover. we have the warm moist air from the gulf feeding the jet stream and a low thats parked over colorado and kansas which is feeding the front in the late afternoons and on into the early evenings.
Tulsa is on old protected indian ground or thats what is the story and the news team did confirm that it was what the cherokee and creek indian tribes believed and it seems to keep the tornadoes from hitting us. what generally happens is a tornadoe builds in oklahoma city (2 hours by car) and follows a turnpike all the way to the edge of tulsa then either splits north or south and misses tulsa.
The first recognized f5 tornadoe that flattened the town of Moore and traved across country and went upt he turnpike wiped out a huge outlet mall along the way. the slab still shows the distant reminder of how our weather can change in an instant. a lot of people have tornadoe shelters which are little rooms under ground with only a door showing.
there were a lot ofwall clouds with lots of tails showing in the tulsa area. I don't think we had one actually hit the ground and cause damage just the winds from the storms. I had a girlfriend who used to ask why I watched the sky's when we had weather coming in. she got the answer one fall evening when we had a massive storm roll in. the clouds are huge and ver nasty looking.

I hope this answers some of the questions on tornadoes and what we in the central part of the country have to watch for.

On a good note. Yesterday I was in the greenhouse and have flats rooted out ready to come out. they have been in there for 3 weeks. now to find the room for Prowis castle artamesia and ajuga burgandy glow. the pic is of the greenhouse on the 24th

Have a great day everyone
Dave
