The hydrangea I have that loves sun is hydrangea paniculata 'Tardiva.' It also blooms late summer/fall and the blooms stick around for a long time. I'll post a picture in a couple months, I have a hedge started on those, too. They've been planted half the time of the oakleafs and they're already 6' tall.
