Beginner Gardening: What can/should I plant along w/ knockout roses?, 1 by RevLisa

I'm planning on creating an actual bed with edging and planting knockout roses in the back of the bed against the house. I would like some additional greenery and color in front of the roses but have no idea what to plant that will be low maintenance and work well with the roses.

Any suggestions?
