The Starburst grows very fast so the one in the picture is most likely 2-3 years old. They do NOT bloom all year. They bloom in the winter then lose many of their leaves before growing new ones. They are easy to grow as a tree using proper pruning. They spread by sending runners out which is not a big problem if you keep them pulled up. They make gorgeous trees when they are blooming. Their foliage looks nice when they are not blooming.

The Starbust tree in the picture is 2 years old.
