evelyn_inthegarden wrote: Jeanette ~ Steve is my husband, and yes he is still alive. He is 7 years younger than I. And I did meet him here, in my own place of business ( a nursery - surprise!) about a year after I moved up here. I did live at the house where my mother stayed, but only a short while. Then I was on my own as was she. I helped her move several times as she gave her house (that she owned) to my son and his wife, when they lived in the SF valley, but that is another story. We both really enjoyed living here in a more rural setting, though it is getting less so these days with more wineries and vineyard sprouting up like weeds after a spring rain. But that was all so long ago. My husband and I will have been together now for only 21 years in one month. We waited 6 years before getting married as we were both rather independant and had to be sure we were compatible enough. It seemed to work out quite nice, really. I could not find any DVR's in any stores...Best Buy, Sam's, Target, Walmart, Radio Shack...etc. The only place I saw one at a decent price and that was new was at Amazon.com. The funny thing was they were offering the DVR that I already have to be sold used for over $500.00! I am glad that they had a better one that was new for less money. You had better be more careful driving...just reading your post about your tailgating and the deer...well, you may not get to be an old woman if you keep that up! Did you ever get your warm and sunny weather in order to ripen your tomatoes? Mine are still coming in.... Sharon ~ That is great news about Vern. You and he are in my prayers. Are you looking for flowers to go into the new blue garden?? Dave ~ Good luck to the big BOPPER!! LOL!! Be careful about those edges...et al... Linda ~ Is TV a "guy" thing, well mostly? There are some interesting shows but not enough to keep me watching for so long....I once almost married someone and he wanted to know when he could buy me a TV, and I said no. (If he wanted to marry a TV, just buy one, a lot cheaper, right?) I thought he enjoyed my company. Now I realize we cannot constantly keep our men entertained in the manner in which they are accustomed...LOL! JB ~ Tonight was TV night with DH. Big Bang is my favorite sitcom, no actually my only sitcom, though occasionally I will watch 2½ Men on occasion with him. I just would rather be otherwise occupied. Not OK on the sofa all night every night, no. Dawn ~ Are you OK? Jill ~ Are you ready for winter now? Has it turned cold yet? It was almost 90° here today, but yesterday it was 94°, though it cooled down a week before it actually turned fall officially, then "Lady Summer" continued to revisit us. Many times it is summer and then winter or at least quite cool then cold. Who is growing veggies for fall and winter? GH, coldframe or in the ground? What about any fall landscape planting? Bulbs? Mary sent me some Easter lilies. It has been to hot to plant them so if it is cooler tomorrow I either will plant them or put them in pots until I can finish the white flower border re-vamp. I need to pull out the rest of the lavenders. Is it too late to make cuttings from the lavender? I do not think they will transplant well, as they are too large now. Maybe Dave can tell me. I know that spring is the best time to take cuttings from them, but can they be taken now? Sleep well, all.... ~ Evelyn |
