Insect and Spider Identification: CLOSED: Huge "Fly"... what kind is it?, 1 by SilkeNightshade

It had maybe 6 legs (he could only see 5 though), white (or silver) and black stripes on the body.
It looks a lot like a fly, except it was about the size of a camel spider (much larger than an average dragonfly).
It wasn't furry like a bee, but it looks like it has some sort of "wasp-like" stinger.
Any help??
