What you have is a Sanguinea, and indeed, is native to the high Andes and prefers it cool, so in that sense you could say they may also be "difficult". I grow them here in the San Fernando Valley, just "over the hill" from Los Angeles, where we do have some hot summer days. My sangs do OK because I provide shade and keep the area moist
