JeanK wrote: Yes, that is an orchid. I have killed my share of them too. On our 50th anniversary, I happened to find this beauty in Lowe's with 27 blooms on it, and it called out to me since our anniversary is on the 27th of the month. It has just finished blooming with 3 flowers, however, has three new spikes on it now. I do much better with the Phals than any others. DH rigged up a soaker hose under our back deck and we have a large tub (some kind of farm animal feeder). We moved the orchids out there this summer and lost a couple, however, the ones on the table are "holding hands" as the roots grew into each other's pots. One has spikes but I can't tell if the other one is beginning to spike or just sending out another "hand" to hold its partner. The sunroom is our pride and joy. We opted to have this rather than a stand alone greenhouse, which I originally wanted. In the fall we bring our tender plants in and in the spring and summer, we use it as our dining room. In this photo you can see the corner of one of the tubs of epi cuttings we brought back from a trip to FL in September. Just can't get enough of those epis! |
