1. This is a colorful insect that this viewer found in their yard in Lincoln, NE. They are wondering what it is, and whether in fact this is a good guy or bad guy.

a. It's called either a candy-striped leafhopper or red striped leafhopper and one of our very strange ones. It’s attracted to a number of different kinds of plants including blackberry. They are hardly ever numerous enough to cause damage. It's one of those that are large enough that children and adults can look at in the garden and landscape. They are susceptible to carbaryl if you see nymphs. I don't think there's going to be a need.
