Tropicals & Tender Perennials: Transplanting Brugmansia HELP!, 1 by belledonna

So I am pulling stems from the root ball and getting a few hairs of roots and replanting them. The root ball on one of them weighs about 150-200 pounds no matter how close I try to dig it to the base. Have any of you had good experiences with getting these types of rootings to grow? I've moved 10 bushes and the last two will just have to be trampled or cut to the ground. I thought I couldn't take cuttings until October. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

PS one group I have to move because the animals are getting too close to them and it could poison them.
