It happens to be right near my sidewalk and my neighbors sidewalk, so, in the winter time snow with salt from the road gets dumped on this area. After reading and viewing other NE members trials with ground covers that were tough as nails...I came up with a winning combo. There are 4 ground covers here. Along with a blue globe spruce, and a chameacyparis. The basket of gold is nice now, and has a nice scent to it. The golden creeping genny, is doing it's job, and snow in summer is remarkably tolerant of just about anything, and the other ground cover (can't remember the name) is doing well in this area also...It's taken about 8 plants, about 2 of each variety, and about 2 years (3 growing seasons) to get this matt look. I still have dandelions popping up, but not nearly as much when this first started! |
