I have noticed something strange during the past couple of weeks! There are NO birds visiting my feeders. In the past as soon as I began filling the feeders I had oodles of birds. Not so this year. Is it just my imagination? I am in zone 8 and it has been interesting weatherwise since Thanksgiving.
Where are the birds?
I was having the same problem, gessie, until about a month ago. But things are usually pretty slow her until December anyway.
Personally, I feel that all the hurricanes we had this year have had some impact on bird migration.
Don't give up...feed them and they will come (eventually) ;))
The freshness of the food can have a big impact on whether they visit or not.
Another reason could be Hawks and no place for them to hide.
Another factor is the availability of natural food - if lots of plants in the area have had heavy berry / seed crops this year, then birds won't need to visit feeders.
Resin
I agree Resin. We have had odd Fall weather here in New England and a lot of my insect and berry eaters have had plenty to eat until very recently. I was getting more birds visiting for the heated bird bath than the food....until a couple of weeks ago.
