I put a borneo Giant in the ground last summer. It was doing fine until winter when it started to decline - I wasn't all that surprised, but I expected it to make it. We had a very cold week which fried all remaining leaves. I continued to hope it would return but the stem kept getting smalller and oozed water when I touched the top of it.
Today I decided to check it out by digging the thing up. I found some rotted roots as I expected along with the little bugs that love to feast on rot. I also found very healthy roots some which I broke as I dug it up. What would be the best course to take now that there is still life left in it? I may also plant it under some canopy for next winter's protection.
Thanks, Dave
