I've planted gold/yellow crocus in the past, and they just do not survive. They come up the first year, and the cardinals pull the petals - I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes!!! - and they just sort of die away. White, purple and purple/white striped all do well.

I've got mostly crocus, hellebores, a few early daffodils, and some forsythia blooming now. Hyacinths and bleeding hearts and tulips are showing some growth.
