Here I alternated white 'iceberg' roses and lavender 'angel face' roses slightly to the left of each fence post, in the center of each fence section I have a trellis with a clematis everything then underplanted with reblooming iris. Most of the season it is a wall of color.

edited to say that at the end of last season I pulled out the 'angel face' roses and replaced them with pink knockouts.
