I know from personal experience that most pines love to be pruned and respond well to it. I have 5 or 6 types that I have kept in shape (trad. christmas tree shape) for decades.

When I first planted my White Pines in front, my neighbor rushed out to talk me out of putting them so close to HIS property line. "You know those THINGS get 40 foot, right?"

I told him, that with pruning, they will not get more than 12 foot tall. He scoffed and went back inside. 20 years later, and they are still 12 foot tall ..... See ......
