The liner I had attached to the pole (which is hardwood) is not out in direct weather, so would need to be watered by hand, and as water is only needed in the vase, (for Neo's) If done carefully enough, the lining can be kept relatively dry. The stocking/pantyhose, is more likely to rot before post or liner!
