I rarely fertilize it. If I am using a hose end sprayer with fertilizer then it might get some. The nice thing is they are fairly drought resistant. They become very heavy if you soak them (just like a sponge).

Here is the same plant last year on the ground due to the wire being broken. Maybe this winter I will add a new hook.
