After discussing it in the Carolina forum I thought I'd also ask her to see if anyone has any thoughts on what a few of my bananas (acquired from Lowe's are). They were labeled as Basjoo, but their trunks look nothing like my other basjoo (which I've positively ID'd). This photo shows three of the bananas, two of which are basjoo (despite one with lime leaf colors) and the third is something else - or so I think. I posted additional photos in this thread below of all the trunks. You can clearly see the difference between the basjoo in my yard and these from Lowe's. The way the old leaves are splitting from the trunk is definitely unique on all the bananas I got from Lowe's. I sorta am guessing they might be Blue Java? Or maybe they're just a different type of basjoo? What you all think? Curiosity gets the better of me when it comes to tropicals. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=5427975 - Lowe's http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=5427977 - Lowe's http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=5427978 - Lowe's http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=5427980 - ID'd Basjoo http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=5427982 - ID'd Basjoo Thanks, -John Higher resolution of the photo below: http://www.hawaii-guide.com/images/dg_plants/Basjoo.jpg This message was edited Aug 18, 2008 3:49 PM |
