I have had a Shumard Oak in trouble for about a year now. FYI - I am taking this opportunity to redo the beds around my trees in the backyard, making them larger. I underestimated (as you can see in the photo) how much room the trunk would need when we built our house 7 years ago. Gardening is very much a learning process!
