This allows me to start seeds with different germination rates in the same flat and be able to remove a carton when its time to pot up without having the remainder of the tray left vacant and using space on the light shelf. I also number the cartons along the center (laundry marker) with the date and tray number which I enter into my journal. That way I always know what is in which tray. I punch holes in the side of the egg cup near the bottom for drainage. Works great! Saves on cell tray cost.
