He hangs out at the edge of the QAW and is not at all intimidated by me. I thought we lost him because last Sunday when I saw him he had a bite on his butt and I hadn't seen him since. But this morning...there he was! I was really happy. I think (correct me if I'm wrong all you herpetologists!) he is a Northwestern Garter Snake (Thamnophis ordinoides) and just a kid, only about 14" long.
