TriFred wrote: This seedling is the result of a cross made by Gary Morales. The seedling sprouted with variegation this spring. As it grew it maintained the unusual variegation pattern but lost some the cream coloring it had as a seedling. It has been a vigorous grower all summer. It lost all of its leaves in June after I applied a dose of Bayer fertilizer & disease granules (won't use that stuff for container plants again). It has tried to bloom a couple of times this summer but dropped the buds due to our extreme Florida heat. Now that things are cooling off it looks like I may have open blooms next week! The plant is currently about 3-4 feet tall and has been relatively pest free this summer. I'm anxious to see if any of the cream variegation comes back in the cooler weather. All of the leaves stay the light green color with only splotches of dark green splattered about. The leaves also maintain a ruffled appearance. It currently receives a few hours of sun in the morning followed by filtered light through the oaks for the remainder of the day. Fred |
