A friend sent me a photo to ID and the PI forum IDd it as Jewel weed ~ Impatiens capensis. It was found growing wild in the east Texas woods.

It is a beautiful flower with pretty blue green foliage. It attracts butterflies and hummers as pollinators.

It also apparently attracts herbalists that state the plant can be used for various skin ailments. Does any Texas gardener have any experience with growing or using this Jewel of a weed in medicinal form. Any information you could share would be appreciated... TIA ~ pod
