Beginner Gardening: Filigree Maple with spirea any ideas?, 1 by flowerprincess

Thought about some wine and roses weigela? But maybe it would take away from the tree as a focal point. I'm not particularly fond of evergreen shrubs due to fact they make a great home for BIG spiders, but thought the dark green might add a nice compliment to with the chartruese and light green.

In the front entryway to the south of this garden bed, I have a beautiful jackmani clematis and a black beauty elderberry. I planted a few annuals. It just doesnt look right, you think I should add some spirea's to continue the flow?
