Call gardener so and so and tell him they have 24 hours to pick up every errant card that is littering the yards or in inapropriate places and to present themselves back at your doorstep at a specific time to show you their peddling license (most cities require door to door people to be registered and fingerprinted). When they show up, have camera in hand and take their picture and get a plate number if possible. If they do not show up, tell them you will be calling the city's Litter and Nusance Control Department on Tuesday. If they have no peddlers license, call the police and give them your pictures.

Every Spring we have door to door people non-stop, so I put this sign on my door and it works.
