I also noticed some of the shrubby plants had different leaf configurations; some shiny, some darker in color, and some more elongated in shape. When I went back late today I compared the differences and got some pictures of this one shown below. The berries all looked the same- deep red and thick on the branches. My question to all (any) of you: Is this the species Ilex verticillata? And why would its leaves be more elongated than the one shown in the original post above? I am enjoying reading your posts- and I'm learning a lot from them. Thanks! |
