When I arrived here many years ago, there were no birds at all, as there was nothing for them to eat, to drink or to nest. From the very beginning I focused on making my garden bird-and wildlife friendly. So I planted a lot of climbing plants.(a good alternative for when you don't have the space for many big trees). Very soon I discovered that many birds love to bath and I provided for several birdbaths. The species of birds I have at the moment are about 25 sparrows. A couple of black birds (they don't allow any others as they are very territorial). About 5 Turkish turtle-doves 4 wood-pigeons a varying number of blue tits. In the winter time I get some extra guests like; more tits, red robins, wrens. Often my tiny garden has the aspect of a busy air port. Here is a picture of them having a great time in the bath |
