The first cuttings that I received of D.Peach took a year and a half to bloom They also waited until they were 6 feet tall before they even 'Y'd. This summer I brought cuttings with me to NY. I took the cuttings in spring when the two mother plants were flowering. Of course they also came from above the 'Y'. The cutting is now 3 feet tall, has 'Y'd and is ready to bloom. Cuttings that I have given out to people have done the same thing this year for them. I just think that this is a sensitive issue for D. Peach. She is not to be dismissed though as a great bloomer. Once miss thing gets going she is a repeat bloomer of the most fragrant blooms that are long lasting and hasve plenty of fluffy pollen.
I have heard when you take cuttings from plants that are actively flowering (and above the 'Y') there is a hormonal thing occuring in the branches of the flowering region. This gives cuttings an advantage of coming into flower sooner. In some brugs it does not make a difference but with D. Peach, taking cuttings in the flowering region while the tree is flowering seem to make all the difference in the world.
