I have seen folks take telephone poles or hardwood logs and sink them in flower beds in clusters or alone. Then perch plants on top. I liked it... Actually, when I go for the hair clippers, I will have cuttings to gladly share. I intend to hang the basket when winter comes. I wonder if the plant will be ugly then and I should just start a new one. I like to use a pedestal or holder for my plants as I have a boyzo who likes to help water by lifting his leg. I am going to pass on the datura seed. I have seeds for the plain old fashioned white and the purple double ruffle too. Just need a reminder to start them in the spring. Our area is not a drought devastated. No water restrictions but definite burn bans. Folks aren't too smart about that. The ranchers are in a bind for hay cuttings as it is slim across the US. One of these years the cycle will change... We have had light showers for the last 3 days ~ a total of 1/4 inch of rain. Whew! The humidity is higher than the temp now. High 70's at night, mid 90's daytime. At least our 100 + spell is broken. But Oriole, I wouldn't trade for your temperatures come winter. : )) pod |
